admin | February 8th, 2011 | No Comments »

With bare-bones construction and extreme durability, Mongoose BMXs are the natural choice for riders of all levels seeking a BMX bike that’s built to last. Mongoose BMXs are practical, all-around bikes that can withstand the most aggressive motocross riders. The company’s product range includes specialized models and frames for all types of riders and riding styles. Mongoose BMXs include specialized models for freestyle, dirt and urban applications as well as bikes for young riders and pros. Specialized designs for each discipline include minor frame changes to make each model suitable for first-time riders, beginners, advanced riders and pros.

Mini-frame Mongoose BMXs for boys and girls age nine and up start at £129. The smaller wheelbase and shorter top tube of the Micron and Pit Crew for boys and the Blaze for girls give young riders a compact easy to manoeuvre bike with a frame that’s suitable for their size. Mongoose BMXs in the freestyle category are ideal beginners looking for a solid bike to hit the half pipe or practice air tricks. Durable axel pegs included with freestyle bikes allow riders to practice complex tricks. With a solid, well-balanced frame, the Mongoose Subject and the Mongoose Capture are ideal choices for beginners and first-time freestyle riders. The supercharged frame of the Mongoose Article is designed to provide maximum power and flexibility for adventurous riders and pros.

If your BMX discipline is hitting hard-packed dirt jumping trails or practicing tricks on street obstacles and flatland, Mongoose BMXs for dirt and street use are the ideal choice. Like Mongoose’s freestyle models, these mid-priced BMX bikes range from £169 to £249 depending on the model’s specs. If you’re looking for the classic BMX bike with rear axel pegs, you’ll find them in Mongoose’s Freestyle series, but not their dirt or street bikes. The solid frame and low centre of gravity makes the Program and the classic Logo street bike ideal for first-time riders and beginners. The Mongoose Thrive and edgy Culture both feature an extra-durable high-performance frame. Advanced riders and professional-level competitors will appreciate the upgraded specs to the Mongoose Chamber.

The Fraction, Legion and Shield are three of the most popular Mongoose BMXs featuring professional specifications matching the team bikes used by the best pros on tour. These top of the line Mongoose BMXs built with team-issue specs are priced around £469.99 for all three frame and wheelbase options.

wethepeople: A Rising Star in Freestyle BMX

admin | January 3rd, 2011 | No Comments »

Wethepeople BMX’s is a bike company operating from Cologne, Germany which produces freestyle BMX bikes for Europe and the US. The company was started in 1996 by Klaus Dyba and Harry Schmidt, and has been turning out high quality freestyle BMX bikes ever since.

Wethepeople is unique in it’s field due to the company’s specialization in the freestyle BMX discipline. The company has a freestyle team dubbed “pro with flow” who compete on wethepeople bikes at European bike tournaments. The team is well known on the European circuit, and an international team, called “flow but pro,” has been assembled to compete outside the European theater.

Wethepeople has organized their bike catalog into several different sections, with offerings from bikes for the young ones all the way up to pro-model freestyle bikes. They are known for assembling their complete bikes with higher quality parts than most manufacturers, meaning less cost down the line. For those who are looking to start from the ground up, wethepeople also provides a wide selection of frames and components to choose from, allowing you to get the highest level of customization available from one company.

The company has made quite a few changes in it’s 2011 line, with prices going up accordingly. While the bikes are still affordable and very durable, this has caused a bit of consternation with BMX fanatics. However, wethepeople has rolled out with better components on their complete bikes this year, including hydroformed front forks to replace the welded two-piece models, a new style of seat designed and produced by the company, and a few tweaks to it’s higher end bikes.

The “Rookie” line is the bottom level of wethepeople BMX’s, but the bikes still represent the high quality product. The “Seed” model is their entry level children’s BMX, with 16” wheels and Salt brakes, levers and pedals. The 2011 Seed is an affordable entry to the freestyle universe, coming in at only £299. The juvenile and adult models in the “Rookie” line, the Arcade, come similarly equipped and priced, in 18” and 20” variations.

Riders looking for a more substantial ride can go to the “Expert” series of wethepeople BMX’s, starting with the “Justice” model, which retails just marginally above their entry level bikes at £339.99, which offers eclat pedals and Salt alloy brakes, among other upgrades. The other offering in the “Expert” series is the “Reason,” which retails at about £349.99 and features components like double-walled rims and better brakes. While the “Justice” is available in two sizes, 20.4” and 21” TT, the “Reason” is only available in 20.4” TT.

The “Master” series is a step up from the entry-level “Expert” line, offering two bikes, the “Crysis” and the “Versus”, affordably priced at £399 and £429, respectively. These bikes offer a higher level of response and tougher components, and out of the box can easily serve as a bike suitable for competitions.

The “Pro” series is for advanced riders who are competing on a regular basis, and features two models as well, the “Trust” and the “Zodiac.” These bikes are built tough, yet able to respond to the most subtle maneuvers required of them. They’re a little more expensive, clocking in at £469 and £539, but with components that won’t require upgrades anytime soon and are designed to take a shellacking.

The highest level of wethepeople BMX’s is called the “Elite” series, and is painstakingly designed by the wethepeople team to offer the best in pro-level BMX bikes. The two bikes in this series, the “Volta” and “Envy,” both sport top shelf components, and are as sensitive and responsive as a BMX bike gets. They are priced around £649 to £799, with the “Volta” being the highest priced and specced bike that wethepeople offers.

With a solid lineup, a great warranty, and years of experience under their belt, wethepeople has become one of the BMX world’s top brands in a relatively short amount of time. The reason for this is craftsmanship, as well as attention to detail and feedback from riders. If the 2011 lineup looks this good, they must really have something up their sleeve for 2012.

Diamondback Dirt Jump Bikes

admin | March 29th, 2010 | No Comments »

There are many choices in dirt jump bikes for those who prefer the excitement of this type of cycling. One of the best known brand names in the dirt jump bike industry is Diamondback. Diamondback Bikes have been supplying all kinds of quality bicycles since 1978, making them a leader in the industry for over 30 years.

Diamondback has always provided the bicycling public with a wide variety of choices each season, and their array of dirt jump bike options is no different. Their 2010 dirt jump bike collection features the Diamondback Grind 20 inch BMX bike. While originally classified as a street bike, this year’s Diamondback Grind is especially geared toward BMX riders, making it a hot choice for dirt jump bike riders. It features 48-spoke wheels and a Hi-Ten steel frame. The bike is built to jump and spin, which is evidenced by its SST ORYG cable detangler, foot pegs, and front and rear brakes. The compact geometry of the frame is conducive to providing maximum clearance for tricks and jumps. The Diamondback Cellblock tires supply excellent performance whether riding on dirt or on the street. Your feet will stay where you want them with the specially made Diamondback sound pedals, which feature molded traction pins.

Another choice in Diamondback dirt jump bikes for 2010 includes the Diamondback Viper X 20 inch bike. Whether you are peddling around the neighborhood, ready for a race, or doing some dirt jumping, this bike presents an excellent option. The Viper combines the durability of a jumping bike and the speed of a racing bike. This bike features durable SST, Rush, and Diamondback components along with a well-built high-tensile-steel frame that supplies the control, durability, and speed to dominate both the track and the trails. It includes a Hi-Ten steel frame and fork with dual lower cable routing with the option of making it a single cable.

One of the most popular Diamondback dirt jump bikes is the Diamondback Session. This is a bike that is specifically made for those who want to jump right into the dirt jump bike scene. This bike features a Tektro U-brake, sturdy chromoly one piece crank, SST ORYG detangler, reliable wheels, and a rugged steel frame and fork. This bike will require the rider to have at least a 22.5 inch inseam.

These are only a few of the choices that are available in the product line of Diamondback dirt jump bikes. The Diamondback dirt jump bike line features bikes that are available in a wide range of prices, meaning you will likely be able to find a Diamondback dirt jump bike to fit your budget.

BMX Dirt Jump Bikes

admin | March 17th, 2010 | No Comments »

If you’re looking for BMX dirt jump bikes, there are several styles and options to choose from. The type of bike you purchase depends on your experience level and your preferences. When you become serious about jumping dirt bikes, you will find that there is a substantial difference between street bikes and the bikes you need to catch the best air.

Street Bikes vs. Dirt Bikes

Street bikes are perfect for riders who plan to ride them daily in various locations. A good street bike can handle intermediate jumps at local community centers and private courses, but they aren’t really designed to handle the stresses that competitive dirt jumping demands. If you want to impress your friends on a weekend, a street bike will give you everything you need. If you want to win contests, however, you should consider purchasing a bike that was made specifically for dirt jumping. Dirt bikes are balanced so that you are in control of the jump from the time you leave the ground until you land again. The frames are lighter, but they are durable enough to handle landing from the heights you need to achieve to be a serious dirt jumper.

Beginner Bikes

Beginner BMX dirt jump bikes are a combination of street and dirt bikes. The Mongoose Program Dirt/Street BMx Bike 2010, for example, was created with the beginning jumper in mind. It is an upgrade from a strict beginner bike, but it still has some of the balance and handling that beginners are used to from regular street bikes. You won’t make the most spectacular jumps on this bike, but you also won’t have the most spectacular crashes, either. Bikes like the Mongoose 2010 give you the stability you need while you master the fundamentals of jumping dirt bikes.

Bikes for Experienced Riders

When you’re ready to do some serious jumping, there are dirt bikes that have been created to give you the best possible maneuverability while you are airborne. Subrosa is one of the premiere brands of dirt jump bikes, and they have several models for you to choose from. Each model offers the weight and handling that a serious jumper needs, with a variety of heights, handlebars, and tires to fit your particular riding style.
